Xolo Maridueña, DC’s Blue Beetle Star, Joins Marvel Series
Xolo Maridueña, along with other guest stars, is set to usher in the next phase of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. In an announcement on Thursday, Disney Branded Television revealed that the Cobra Kai star, recently known for his debut as DC superhero Jaime Reyes in Blue Beetle, will be lending his voice to the upcoming second season of the Marvel animated series. The second season is scheduled to premiere on Friday, February 2, at 8 PM ET on Disney Channel and Disney XD.
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Season 2 will continue following the adventures of 13-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette, also known as Moon Girl (Diamond White), and her 10-ton T-Rex companion, Devil Dinosaur (Fred Tatascioreas). Together, they work to protect her Lower East Side neighborhood from various threats. Disney has also released the trailer for Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Season 2, providing a glimpse into the upcoming storyline. The season’s synopsis highlights Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur embracing their roles as superheroes, but as Moon Girl’s superhero activities become more intertwined with her personal life, she faces the dilemma of whether keeping her identity a secret is worth the toll it takes on her family.
At only 22 years old, Xolo Maridueña has already made history by starring in DC’s Blue Beetle, officially becoming the first Latino superhero in a live-action film. With a background of Mexican, Cuban, and Ecuadorian descent, Maridueña gained recognition for his role as Miguel Diaz in Netflix’s Cobra Kai. In 2021, he secured the role of Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle, marking a significant milestone in his burgeoning career.
