Belmont Professor Expands Entrepreneurial Lessons with New Spanish-Language Podcast
Belmont professor Dr. José González, known for his dedication to helping aspiring entrepreneurs, has extended his reach into a new realm: podcasting.
After several years of contemplation, Dr. González, along with co-host Dr. Frank González, has launched “Latino Emprendedor,” a podcast designed to cater to Spanish-speaking audiences. The podcast’s mission is to provide invaluable insights into various aspects of entrepreneurship, from business startup tips to coping with setbacks.
One significant motivation behind this initiative is the lack of accessible resources for Hispanic entrepreneurs in their native language. While there is a substantial network of service providers and entrepreneurial organizations, most of these resources primarily operate in English, leaving a gap in support for Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs.
According to the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Latinos across the nation initiate more than 80% of new businesses, a rate three times higher than the national average. However, despite their entrepreneurial zeal, many face challenges related to limited access to capital, information, and education.
To address these issues, Dr. González co-founded the nonprofit organization Conexión Américas over two decades ago. This organization’s mission is to foster a welcoming community where immigrant-origin families can thrive and prosper. Since its inception, Conexión Américas has played a vital role in supporting the Hispanic community’s entrepreneurial aspirations.
Over the years, Dr. González has witnessed a transformation in Nashville’s Hispanic entrepreneurial landscape. Today, the community encompasses individuals engaged in various sectors, including fintech, logistics, transportation, and healthcare.
With the “Latino Emprendedor” podcast, Dr. González aims to further empower and educate Hispanic entrepreneurs, one episode at a time. He believes that this endeavor comes at an opportune moment for Latino emprendedores in Nashville, offering them the valuable guidance and insights needed to succeed in their entrepreneurial journeys.
